Foster Care to Success Scholarship Program – Foster Care to Success has been administering scholarships since 1991, with a graduation rate of 65% and an annual retention rate of 85%.  

General Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • have been in public or private foster care for the 12 consecutive months prior to their 18th birthday OR have been adopted or placed into legal guardianship from foster care after their 16th birthday OR have been orphaned for at least one year at the time of their 18th birthday
  • have been accepted into or expect to be accepted into an accredited, Pell-eligible college or other post-secondary institution
  • have been in foster care or orphaned while living in the United States. U.S. citizenship is not required.

When does one apply?

The application is open January 1 – March 31 annually.

When are scholarships awarded?

Foster Care to Success scholarships are awarded in June for the following academic year. Awardees and non-recipients alike receive notification via the email address from which they applied.

How much scholarship money is awarded?

Awards range from $1,500 to $5,000 per academic year based on unmet financial need.

Are scholarships renewable?

Scholarships are renewable for up to five years or until a student achieves their degree, provided they maintain good academic standing.
